The Role
 
As the Senior Communications Officer, you will lead the development and delivery of strategic communications for key high-profile projects and programmes, with an emphasis on digital products and channels.
 
Reporting to the Head of Communications, you will utilise a full range of communications
skills. These will include stakeholder engagement and management, media handling and translating complex analysis into engaging messages and communications products.
 
Taking a results-oriented approach, you will oversee the monitoring, evaluation and impact of communications activities for key projects. Your aim will be to ensure desired results are being achieved and learning is captured and acted upon.
 
Specifically, you will: 
 
- Handle media enquiries, including writing press releases, media briefings and liaising with journalists
- Build strong relationships with PR, creative and web development agencies 
- Deliver communications support and provide strategic advice for consultancy clients
- Produce insight on the external landscape, key trends, partners and audiences
- Using Google Analytics and other tools on social media to track engagement with content
 
About You
 
To join us as the Senior Communications Officer, you’ll need:
 
- At least five years’ experience working in communications
- Demonstrable strategic communications experience
- At least three years’ experience in international development 
- Experience of working with external agencies and stakeholders 
- A degree (or equivalent) in social sciences, communications or similar 
 
Previous experience of working in a not-for-profit or charitable organisation is desirable, as is experience of website content management. Commissioning content such as blogs and case studies from external stakeholders and guiding its development would also be beneficial to your application.
