Job Summary

Would you want to help S-AM grow and have a life that any human being deserves?
We are looking for you to get S-AM and the team to up and go on an adventure every day, making it fun and happy. Are you willing to work to support S-AM who has severe Autism and complex needs? S-AM is a happy person with a hilarious sense of humour, however due to his complexities, he can also demonstrate challenging behaviours at times. It is important that the right person is able to adapt to this and understands the importance of de-escalation and diversion tactics.
S-AM enjoys:
- Going for long walks in the park, trampolining, horse riding, going on forest adventures and swimming
- He can sometimes decide to stay in his room all day, so it’s important that the team members encourage S-AM to go outside and to motivate outings
- S-AM enjoys listening to music
- S-AM loves food and Disney films
- S-AM loves anything involving trains and planes

Your qualities as a Life Enabler for S-AM
- You will need to have a ‘can-do’ resilient attitude and be committed to inspiring positive change in this young person’s life
- You will need to be engaging, patient, and be able to inject fun in activities and during everyday support
- You will have a pro-active approach as no two days will be the same
- You will need to be creative, intuitive, and able to improvise when needed. If you have a curious mind and are solution orientated, we welcome you
- You will be motivated to learn new skills and mentor your peers
- You will be able cook and clean with a meticulous attention to detail
- You will be reliable and dependable as a team member
- You will be able to work with S-AM’s family in a professional manner
- It would be an advantage if you were able to speak some Portuguese
- You will have a background in sports, therapy or drama/music/yoga /tai-chi
- You will ideally a full, clean manual driver’s license
- You must be an outgoing individual with a proactive nature
- It’s important you understand Autism and its complexities and unpredictabilities

At the Certitude Group, not only are we proud of our history of supporting people with complex mental health needs and learning disabilities, we are also making history as we are supporting a young man to move into his own house as part of the Transforming Care programme. Transforming Care is all about supporting people with learning disabilities and/or autism to live in their own homes, in the community, and most importantly closer to their family and friends.
Working Pattern:
The support is provided 24 hours a day on a 3:1 basis, with shifts starting at 7am. The rota consists of day shifts, waking night and sleep in shifts.
You will be supported with a detailed training development plan consisting of:
- Specialist training including positive behaviour support, person centred active support, autism training, intensive interaction training, non-abusive physical and psychological interventions (NAPPI)
- Peer support, management supervision and reflective practice
