IT Operations Manager

 

We are looking for an experienced IT Operations Manager to manage the day-to-day delivery of our IT systems and lead the development of our IT strategy across the whole hospice, including shops and remote sites.

Hours: Full time (37.5 hours per week)

 

What is the role?

 

This will be a varied role requiring a hands-on approach. You will manage the IT solutions and services, working closely with external IT providers to ensure high levels of availability and security for the organisation. You will be responsible for the planning and implementation of IT policies and procedures to ensure appropriate systems and maintenance use that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.

 

Day-to-day responsibilities in this role will include developing, implementing and maintaining hospice systems, including the intranet, clinical IT systems, electronic archiving, retail tills and gift aid technology, NHS mail and telephone systems. You will support all users of IT systems within the hospice with their day-to-day IT requirements, including some simple tasks such as password resets (with a move to automation) and folder access requirements and setting up, maintaining and deleting email accounts for current staff, new starters and leavers. Ensuring all new starters receive appropriate IT induction training.

 

On a strategic level, you will be responsible for continually evaluating technology usage to ensure we are using the most appropriate technology and contribute to the business cases for technology investments. You will be the lead in capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for systems and software in conjunction with end-users and department managers.

 

About you:

 

- Experience of modern technologies including Office 365, SharePoint, cloud technologies and remote desktop solutions

- Excellent communication skills, enabling interaction with all levels of the business (including written and oral communication where appropriate)

- The ability to problem solve, work without supervision, multi-task and prioritise

- Analytical and logical thought processes, ability to relate and co-ordinate requirements across the business or develop structured solutions

- Microsoft Certification

- A willingness to be on-call, work occasional unsocial hours and the ability to work flexibly

 

It would also be great if you have:

 

- Knowledge of ITSM best practices and service level management

- Experience of working with and managing third party suppliers

- Knowledge of IT security best practices

- Experience of working in a multi-sited location company
