Salary Scale: £58,746

Hours: 37 hours a week

Contract: Permanent

Location: Home working (with frequent travel to London & Liverpool with travel across the UK when allowed)

About the role?

A short description of what you will do…


- To provide strategic leadership to our communications, development work, strategic advice and support work, and major partnerships

 - To develop and implement a marketing strategy and to increase and diversify our income generation and the whole team’s commercial awareness

 - To support development and growth amongst our Shared Lives and Homeshare member organisations

 - To be an ambassador for the organisation, generating leads and sales with senior stakeholders

 - To take a key role in the leadership of the organisation as part of the senior management team


The post holder will line manage a growing team including:


- Our strategic advice and support manager

 - Our Homeshare UK team

 - Our communications team

 - Project managers for existing and any new development projects


The postholder will be responsible for delivering on income growth targets including earned and unrestricted funding as well as restricted grant funding, negotiated with the chief executive.


You will provide support across the wider organisation as necessary. Our organisational structure is currently under review so the line management responsibilities of this role could change accordingly. The postholder will attend and participate in board meetings.


Main Duties & Responsibilities


To provide strategic leadership and support to our strategic advice and support Delivery Manager


- Identify and build new markets.

 - build new commercially viable offers to our members and the wider sector which will grow our income.

 - Support this team, the communications and wider team to develop and implement an effective marketing strategy and plan.


Provide strategic leadership to the Homeshare UK team to


- Support the Homeshare Manager to develop and deliver our membership and sector support strategy.

- Support growth and new developments including new strategic advice and support offers to the Homeshare sector and its commissioners.

- Secure and maintain funding in order to sustain and grow our Homeshare operation as a core part of our business.

- Continue to explore and develop our international Homeshare work.

- Support the manager to set ambitious but achievable targets and to report back to SMT and the board.


Provide strategic leadership to our communications team


- Support the communications manager to develop and deliver a communications strategy

 - Support the communications team to work effectively with the other teams in the organisations, meeting ambitious targets for audience reach and impact across the full range of new and traditional media and communications channels

 - Support the manager to explore income generation targets and to support the organisation’s marketing and profile-raising goals.

 - Support the manager to set ambitious but achievable targets and to report back to SMT and the board.


Provide strategic leadership to project managers for our major projects, maintaining positive relationships with the funders and external stakeholders and reporting to relevant reference groups and our own board on progress. These are likely to include:


- Our new initiative to bring the Family by Family model to the UK, in partnership with The Australian Centre for Social Innovation and local commissioners.

- Our KeyShare initiative currently being developed as a new form of domestic abuse support in partnership with Safe Lives and Beverley Lewis House.


Contribute to the effective leadership and administration of Shared Lives Plus


- Work as part of the Senior Management team and support the board in setting the organisation’s strategic direction.

- Embedding a culture across the organisation of generating income and being more commercially aware

- Provide leadership and support across the wider organisation as necessary and appropriate.

- Monitor and report on the outcomes of the Shared Lives Plus team’s work on a regular basis

- Contribute to budgeting and financial planning, managing and monitoring identified budgets, working with the Finance Director and other members of relevant teams
