Community Outreach and Membership Development Officer

Salary: Up to £27,000 per annum pro rata
Hours: 4 days a week (28 hours)
North Herts and Stevenage

Do you thrive on managing your own time? Meeting a huge variety of people? Making a real difference to the success of community groups?

This is a newly expanded role supported by extra grant funding. There is plenty of scope for you to help shape it. You would be supporting over 100 member local charities, many of them run entirely by volunteers.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Refresh the CVS Membership Offer to attract new member organisations whilst retaining existing ones.

Understand the needs of our member organisations and act to support that need.

To support the formation and development of voluntary and community organisations

4

Facilitate the formation of support networks (peer or otherwise)

5

To advise community organisations on matters of governance, fundraising, charitable status and staff and volunteer recruitment

Promote good practice within the North Hertfordshire and Stevenage Voluntary Sector paying specific attention to diversity, the representation of ethnic minority communities and other under-represented groups

Provide training and support to community organisations to provide them with increased skills and knowledge leading to greater sustainability.

Undertake outreach and community development work to support the work of local organisations

To actively promote partnerships between community and voluntary sector organisations and the local statutory sector of North Hertfordshire and Stevenage.

To work with community organisations in developing systems for measuring the effectiveness of their own programmes and projects

To work closely with new start up groups in ensuring the provision of training, guidance and other resources required for future development

In conjunction with other CVS colleagues to provide outreach events for community organisations and volunteers.

To actively promote fundraising strategies amongst community groups and help them to develop new innovative and sustainable approaches to fundraising

Write and promote news stories and events in conjunction with CVS social media staff

Maintain accurate and up to date records of all CVS members

To work with CVS Trustees as required and submit reports / presentations to meetings of the Board of Trustees.

To develop working relationships with local authority and other grant giving bodies at District and County level and to foster close working relationships with other local funding bodies (e.g. Letchworth Heritage Foundation, Hertfordshire Community Foundation).

To engage with other Hertfordshire CVS staff to share learning and explore opportunities for collaborative working,

To work as part of the CVS staff team taking responsibility for corporate roles as allocated.
