Children and Young People’s Support Workers - Full Time, Nights
Dartington, Nr Totnes
£9.34 - £9.98 per hour (plus a night premium)
We are looking for amazing Support Workers to join the team at Robins, our 10 bed Residential and Shortbreak Home in Dartington.
Children and young people with learning disabilities and their families are at the heart of everything we do, and we want every person we support to have a great life with excellent outcomes. We couldn’t achieve that without all the great Support Workers who join our care teams. It all starts with you!
There is no such thing as a ‘typical’ Support Worker. Our staff come from lots of different backgrounds, people with little or no experience but want a job that involves helping people, those who want a change of career, as well as experienced Support Workers. The one thing that links them all together is their desire to work with young people who have learning disabilities, make their lives better, and help them to learn something new or take a further step towards independence. Our Support Workers certainly don’t see what they do as ‘just another job’.
A typical weekday night shift is 21:15 – 09:15 during term time and on Saturdays and during school holidays it is 20:00 – 08:00 with a working a pattern of 3 nights on, 3 nights off.
Ideally, you will have previous experience in this sector and hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent). Though this qualification is by no means essential, a willingness to gain the qualification within 2 years is required. Defined as a “Good” provider by Ofsted, Robins are looking for “Outstanding” staff who will deliver support in a professional, caring way.
In return, we would like to support you in making care work your career, offering you an extensive induction on commencement of employment and amazing array of training opportunities. We will also work with you on your own individual development plan to help you progress your career and become one of our senior workers for the future.
We are a well-established charity that provides an excellent range of staff benefits including 28 days’ annual leave on starting, a company pension scheme and a staff discount scheme.
Lifeworks is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment. For this post, pre-employment checks will be carried out, references will be sought, and successful candidates will need to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
As a Disability Confident Employer, we are committed to encouraging applications from applicants who declare they have a disability, provided they meet the minimum job criteria as specified in the person specification, by offering a guaranteed interview.
